The newest cosmetic filler that we now offer in our office is Juvéderm Voluma™ XC. Voluma is the first of its kind. It is an injectable gel containing hyarulonic that is injected into the cheek area to instantly add volume and lift the face, giving you a more youthful profile and restoring contour of your face.
How does it work?
Voluma is specially designed to add volume to all 3 areas of the cheek- the apex, the apple & the hollow.
What is Hyaluronic Acid? Is it harmful?
Hyaluronic Acid, a main component in Voluma, is a substance (technically, a polysaccharide) that naturally occurs in the body in the joints as well as between skin cells. This molecule is what helps to keep skin soft, plump & moist. When we are born, we have high amounts of hyaluronic acid (think “smooth as a baby’s bottom”), but as we age, the amount of hyaluronic acid in our skin decreases, especially after age 40 or so. When injected, this acid restores plumpness & firmness to the skin and face, creating a more youthful look.
How long does it last?
Voluma is a long-lasting filler. It has been clinically proven to last up to 2 years
What is my “down time” after the procedure? Are there any side effects?
After about 24 hours, you should be able to resume normal activities. Side effects at the injection site are moderate and temporary, typically lasting 2 to 4 weeks. Common side effects include temporary tenderness, swelling, firmness, lumps/bumps, bruising, pain, redness, discoloration and itching.
