Have you been looking for a non-surgical way to improve a double chin? A new injectable is on its way!
In March of this year, the FDA approved a new injectable currently referred to as ATX-101”for improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe convexity or fullness associated with submental fat in adults.” In regular people terms, it will improve the appearance of the full & fatty area under the chin referred to as a “double chin.” Created by KYTHERA® Biopharmaceuticals, ATX-101 is the first injectable of its kind, which makes this a new breakthrough in cosmetic dermatology.
ATX-101 is a formulation of deoxycholic acid, a substance naturally found in the body that breaks down dietary fat. Not many details are available to the public yet as it just received official approval, but the jist of it is that ATX-101 is injected into the submental area and breaks down the fat molecules in this area to reduce the appearance of the double chin.
This product is expected to launch sometime in the second half of this year (2015)!
////UPDATE: April 30, 2015////
This injectable now has an official name, Kybella™, instead of its previous, more technical name of ATX-101. Read more about it in the official press release.
