This month, we will be featuring one tip or fact about skin care products, treatments and general skin care during each post.
Our first tip is this: When using a skin care product, pay attention to the recommended application times.
If a product tells you to apply it in the morning or the evening, there is a reason. Many people will simply apply it whenever they remember or whenever they are accustomed to using their other lotions & potions, but this can limit the effectiveness of the ingredients. Retinol products, for example, recommend night application because (a) it boosts the skin’s natural rejuvenation process that takes place while you sleep and (b) UV exposure counteracts retinol, making it essentially useless. Morning application products usually recommend the A.M. because it may (a) have SPF in it which obviously only does you any good prior to sun exposure or (b) counteract retinol or other common ingredients in night creams/serums.
